What can Shelly automation do?
Shelly devices can control lighting, selected circuits, blinds and other parts of an installation. Depending on the model and setup, they can automate routine tasks, respond to schedules or sensor readings, and help monitor energy use.
The right solution depends on the intended use. Not every module offers the same functions, energy monitoring or compatibility with every platform.
Local operation and internet access
Many Shelly devices can run configured automations locally without a permanent cloud connection. What continues to work without internet depends on the device, its configuration and any integrations in use. Remote access from outside the home usually requires internet access or a suitably configured network solution.
During setup, we distinguish functions that should work independently within the home from those that rely on external services.
Integrations and compatibility
Depending on the model, firmware and configuration, Shelly devices can work with different systems, such as Google Home, Apple Home, Home Assistant or solutions using Matter. This does not mean every model supports every platform without additional requirements.
Before purchase, we check the required features, control method and compatibility with the rest of the system to help avoid unnecessary costs or disappointment.
A stable Wi-Fi network matters
Automation works best when devices have suitable network conditions. The 2.4 GHz coverage, router configuration, network addressing and access-point placement all matter. Simply replacing a device with a “more powerful” one does not always solve the problem.
If needed, we check the network and device communication before adding more modules or changing the configuration.
Upgrade without unnecessary renovation
In many cases, automation can be added to an existing installation, but the options depend on the wiring, available installation space, type of load and whether a neutral conductor is present. Not every solution is suitable for every circuit.
Before installation, we assess the technical conditions and choose a device for the actual wiring arrangement rather than assuming one module fits every situation.

A reliable system depends not only on the module itself, but also on safe connections, correct load selection, network configuration and control logic. Incorrect wiring can cause malfunction or damage the device.
